Professor Chien-Shiung Wu (right), was instrumental in the field of atomic science. She is pictured here with her associates Dr. Y.K. Lee and L. W. Mo on March 21, 1963.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. It is a time to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
Sadly, however, many of these contributions are not recognized. Asian American and Pacific Islanders have contributed to many areas of our lives, including medicine, science, technology, and media. Asian American and Pacific Islanders have also been trailblazing activists fighting for civil rights and labor rights, even protesting alongside Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Cesar Chavez.
One way to tear down walls and sow peace and unity is to become more educated.
